Why Rebates Are Offered
The purpose of these rebates is simple: to allow CGEMC to install a load management switch on qualifying heat pumps and electric water heaters. These switches help the cooperative temporarily reduce demand during periods of high energy use, lowering costs for everyone while maintaining comfort and reliability for your home.
Available Rebates
| Equipment Type | Rebate Amount | Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Electric Air-Source Heat Pump* | $400 | 14.3 SEER2 or higher with a load management switch installed; dual fuel systems are not eligible. Must provide a copy of the Invoice and AHRI certificate. |
| Electric Mini-Split Heat Pump* | $400 with switch / $200 without | Ductless-16 SEER2 or greater, Ducted- 15.2 SEER2 or higher; maximum savings with load management switch installed. Must provide a copy of the Invoice and AHRI certificate. |
| Electric Water Heater (40+ gallons) | $100 | Must include a load management switch; tankless water heaters do not qualify. Must provide a copy of the Invoice. |
*Some Mini-split systems and some high-efficiency, high-SEER electric air-source heat pumps use advanced inverter technology and variable-capacity compressors. Because these systems rely on continuous, modulating operation—not frequent on/off cycling—installing a traditional load-management switch can interfere with their performance, comfort levels, and in some cases, manufacturer control strategies. For these reasons, not all heat pump systems are compatible with a load-management switch, and compatibility must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Our Energy Management staff will make the final determination on whether a switch can be safely and effectively installed on any given system. If a load-management switch cannot be installed due to equipment design or operational limitations, the system will not qualify for a rebate under our program requirements. What is an AHRI Certificate? The AHRI Certificate can be obtained from the Heating and Air Conditioning vendor that installed the system.
