On the morning of August 5, members of Central Georgia EMC (CGEMC) gathered at the Annex Building in Butts County for the cooperative’s 89th Annual Meeting of Members. Even before sunrise, members were lining up. Registration began at 6:30 a.m., and by the time the meeting was called to order at 10 a.m., more than 1,300 members had registered.
Board Chairman Arthur White, Jr. welcomed attendees, offered the invocation, and led the Pledge of Allegiance. The national anthem was performed by Kate Morgan. Kate graduated from Mary Persons High School in 2024 and recently completed her Associate of Arts at Gordon State College. This fall, she will attend Piedmont University to study musical theater. Kate is the daughter of Lisa and Jonathan Morgan of Forsyth.
Chairman White then introduced the CGEMC Board of Directors, legal counsel, and President/CEO George L. Weaver before officially closing registration and voting.
During his President/CEO Report, Weaver shared highlights from the past year and reflected on the cooperative’s continued progress. This year’s theme, “Powered by Innovation, Connected by Community,” celebrated the technology, service, and strong member connections that continue to move CGEMC forward.
Weaver then turned the meeting over to CGEMC Attorney Steve Minor, who announced this year’s election results.
D. A. Robinson, III, representing Spalding, Lamar, and Pike Counties, Post 2, and Arthur White, Jr., representing All Members at Large, Post 2, were reelected to serve three-year terms.
Minor expressed appreciation to all candidates and thanked members for their participation. White then officially adjourned the business meeting.
Following the Annual Meeting, prize winners were drawn from registered members. Members were not required to remain at the meeting to win.
