Central Georgia EMC is proud to recognize three outstanding students as recipients of the 2026 CGEMC Powering the Future Scholarship. Each student has been awarded a $500 scholarship and will advance to compete in the statewide selection for Georgia EMC’s Walter Harrison Scholarship.
Paul T. Risper of Macon, a graduate of Westside High School, plans to pursue a degree in physical education. A dedicated dual-enrollment student, Paul balanced academics with varsity athletics and more than 450 hours of community service. Through initiatives like Project Warm, Feed Love, and The Rice Bowl, he helps make a meaningful impact on families in need. Paul aspires to become a teacher and coach, promoting lifelong wellness in his community.
Gary Tyrone “Ty” Walker Jr. of Griffin, a graduate of Trinity Christian School, will attend the University of Georgia to study sports medicine. A multisport athlete and honor graduate, Ty demonstrated strong leadership as a team captain, student government officer, and homecoming king. He hopes to support athletes through injury prevention and rehabilitation while continuing to serve others.
Samuel "Sam" Keldie of Jackson, a graduate of Jackson High School, plans to begin his education in business to become a project manager. Actively involved in athletics, church, and community service, Sam has also gained valuable work experience through internships and summer employment.
