Co-ops are the Perfect Blend

Every October, cooperatives across the country celebrate National Co-op Month. It is an opportunity to recognize what makes the cooperative business model different and, more importantly, what that difference means for the members we serve.

No single element makes Central Georgia EMC (CGEMC) the cooperative it is today. The combination is what matters, much like the ingredients in a favorite cup of coffee.

Our members are at the center of that blend. CGEMC was established to serve the people and communities of central Georgia, and that purpose continues to guide us. Because we are a cooperative, the people we serve are also the people who have a voice in how the cooperative is governed. Local needs help shape local decisions, and the focus remains on providing value to our members rather than generating profits for outside investors.

Our employees play an important role in keeping power available, answering member questions, maintaining our system, and preparing for the changing energy needs of the future.

Our cooperative blend also includes local leadership, community partnerships, youth programs, and investments that help strengthen the places we all call home.

Technology has changed dramatically since CGEMC first began serving members, but our cooperative purpose has remained remarkably simple: people working together can accomplish more.

This October, we are proud to celebrate National Co-op Month and our members, our employees, and the communities that make CGEMC the perfect blend.
